Bhubaneswar, (OC): The Twin City Commissionerate Police has barred heavy vehicles from plying in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during the evening hours from tomorrow. In a statement, the police have cited urban traffic issues to support the decision.
Commissioner of Police in a press statement says huge traffic congestions occur in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city during evening hours. i.e., from 5.00 PM to 7.30 PM on NH and SH. Mostly traffic congestion is seen from Cosmopolice Chhak in Bhubaneswar to Madhupatana Chhak in Cuttack. This congestion has hampered city life. So, under the provisions of Section 28 of the Urban Police Act, he has taken steps to restrict heavy vehicles in the city in the peak evening hours.
Goods carrying essential goods and under Emergency services will be allowed when they are permitted by the commissioner, says the release.
